The CAM en tournée is a dissemination program of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal in collaboration with the Maisons de la culture de Montréal and the Association des diffuseurs culturels de l’Île de Montréal (ADICÎM), focused on circulating works from various artistic disciplines throughout the Island of Montréal.
As part of the 2026-2027 CAM en tournée programming, the Consort laurentien is proud to present our programme Moderno e fantastico in eight boroughs between November 2026 and May 2027.

Moderno e fantastico

Moderno e fantastico – A Journey Through Baroque Italy showcases the inventive, dynamic, and vibrant music of seventeenth-century Italy. Playing on period instruments that are rarely heard together in Montreal today (baroque violin, cornetto, sackbut, and harpsichord), the members of the Consort laurentien present works of the “stil moderno” and the “stylus phantasticus,” where utmost importance is given to gestures, rhetoric, and an unrestrained and emphatic expressiveness; where spontaneity, improvisation, and surprise reign supreme.
By rediscovering these forgotten works of composers like Dario Castello, Claudia Francesca Rusca, Biagio Marini or Giovanni Battista Buonamente, we seek to bring to life a music that, even today, remains at its core resolutely modern.
